On the last day of the semester, Kaylen’s preschool (Building Blocks) hosted a Christmas Program. The 3, 4, and 5-year-olds performed some Christmas tunes, and our little girl was VERY excited for her first on-stage performance!

Last Friday, we took the kids to see an amazing event called Journey to Bethlehem, which is presented by The Church at the Cross in Grapevine. They do an incredible job of portraying the days just before Jesus’ birth.
Our family joined a Jewish family in a “trip” from Nazareth to Bethlehem for the annual census. Along the way, we encountered Roman soldiers, highway robbers, shepherds, Gabriel (the Angel), the three Wise Men, and a band of Jewish Elders/Prophets. At last, we arrived in Bethlehem to find the Baby Jesus: the newborn infant whose life and death provide the salvation none of us deserve.
Kaylen and Joshua were very interested in the goings-on. Of course, Joshua’s favorite parts were 1) the animals, and 2) the fight between the soliders and the robbers. Kaylen continually asked the whereabouts of Mary & Jesus; she loved the town of Bethlehem and the quiet manger that we finally found.
In the midst of such holiday craziness, it is easy to lose sight of what truly matters. We are so blessed that we have opportunities to help make the love and wonder of Christ come alive to our children!
Waiting for the journey to start.
Gold, Joshua!
One of the highlights - live animals!
Kaylen's PJ top looks fabulous with those pants.
Kaylen kept asking how much the donkeys cost.
Unfortunately, there was no room in any Bethlehem inn.
At last - we found Mary and her newborn.
Such awesome might and power, wrapped into a tiny infant.

For years, we have been thinking about biting the bullet and buying a pre-lit Christmas tree. This year Kathleen decided that it was such a great idea, it should be her Christmas present from my parents. What was once a 3-hour job turned into a 30-minute task - what a great gift!
Check out the new tree!
Lacking a few presents...
